WebRings...what's up with them???

Ok someone must not like me over at WebRings. I have applied for HandKnitting ring and Knitting Blog and was denied for lack of knitting on my blog?????? LOL Who needs them when we have RingSurf!

There will be some changes on my site this week as I have been RAOK'd with a custom header for here. I am still working on the html to get it to look its best.
*I guess I figured it out..*
Thank you Amyfor the Awesome header!

This weekend is my grandbaby Ella's FIRST Birthday!!!! Does she become a GrandToddler now instead of baby? Camera battery is all charged and plenty of tape in camcorder! I can't believe she is 1 already!

too much time on hands...

I must have too much time on my hands to do this...heeheehee

I created my name with my knitting needles on the front of this sweater just for the fun of it.
I knit this sweater about 20 years ago! I got the raw fleece from local sheep farmer, washed the fleece, carded the wool, spun the wool, met Elizabeth Zimmerman, knit the sweater from the Knitter's Worshop book. If you notice the detail in the yoke...it is a piano keyboard.
My DH is a piano technician and I knit it for him.

Where I've been in my life....

In bold are the States I've been to, underlined the States I've lived in and italicize the State I am in now...

Alabama / Alaska / Arizona / Arkansas / California / Colorado / Connecticut / Delaware / Florida / Georgia / Hawaii / Idaho / Illinois / Indiana / Iowa / Kansas / Kentucky / Louisiana / Maine / Maryland / Massachusetts / Michigan / Minnesota / Mississippi / Missouri / Montana / Nebraska / Nevada / New Hampshire / New Jersey / New Mexico / New York / North Carolina / North Dakota / Ohio / Oklahoma / Oregon / Pennsylvania / Rhode Island / South Carolina / South Dakota / Tennessee / Texas / Utah / Vermont / Virginia / Washington / West Virginia / Wisconsin / Wyoming / Washington D.C /
Go here to have a form generate the HTML for you.

That was fun. It brought back some fun memories. I collect thimbles and try to get one from each state I visit. When I was in Hawaii, I forgot to get one. Arrgghh. So if you live in Maui, email me. ;-)
Most of the states have been drive thrus to get to other places. I forgot I was in CA at LAX for a run thru. LOL Does that count?
I have lived in Wisconsin all my life and had only visited IL, MN and MO until I was 40. When I was 40 my sis moved to FL and I rode with her when she moved there. That was the beginning of my travels! In 1999 I earned a free trip to Maui and spent a week there! That was totally awesome! We drove to Texas in 2000 for Christmas and we saw a lot of countryside on that trip! I have also been to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Sunny day after snow

We got about 6" of snow over the weekend and today is sunny and it is so pretty. The tree boughs are heavy laden. This is why I like Wisconsin!

I am knitting some leg warmers for my dear Ella's 1st birthday this weekend. They are so little and cute.

My new bird is growing accustomed to us very nicely. He now will come out of cage and hop around on the floor. The shelter had clipped his wings so he would settle easier. I still haven't decided on a name...mostly call him "Baby".

I have discovered listening to audio books and knitting! Talk about killing 2 birds with 1 stone. I also listen to Calvary Chapel teachers on KWave radio online. How cool is learning more about our Lord via the internet and online radio!!!! I get more knitting done this way too.

"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those diligently seek Him." Hebrews 11:6

Name for the bird??

I still haven't found just the right name for the bird. He likes the "p" sound when I say words so thought about a "p" name. Poncho, Peppy, Petey,,,, The list goes on....leave a suggestion in the comment area.... He is warming up to me gradually and chatters more. He is a very nice bird.

I have been dizzy for 5 days now. Don't know what's going on...I did wean myself off of the anti-depressants I was on...did it nice and slow. Took a water pill today to see if that will help. I guess I might have to call the doctor.
***update...on my way to Dr now... 3:41 pm...***

***Update....I have labrynthitis (inner ear infection). Thank goodness it is not my blood pressure!...5:17 pm***

I am making slow progress on Light as Air vest. It takes awhile to knit 216 stitches across...you make the back and sides togther up to the arm pit. The yarn is so soft. I will have to take a strand with me next time I am out shopping to find the right tee or turtleneck to go under it.

Needle case

I was trying to figure out a way to store my circular needles and remembered a quilt project notebook I had made in the past. So I went searching for something to make the outside with and spotted a felted purse I made but didn't like. Wallah!
Here is what I made...

I guess I am not a yarn snob!

Hahaha. I found the mohair yarn for my Light as Air vest! Lion Brand at $3.79 a skein...total yarn cost to make vest under $20! It is knitting up nicely.

I love natural yarns but I am on an acrylic budget. Some day my yarn ship will come in....I'll be at the airport!

Fun Journal Activity

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't search around and look for the "coolest" book you can find. Do what's actually next to you.

Here is mine...
"Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you." Deuteronomy 5:16 -- from the Holy Bible New King James version.

New bird

My new Budgie is home safely! He is so pretty. He now has to get accustomed to me and his new surroundings. He is nice and quiet so far. The bird rescue had some awesome birds. I found this bird thru PetFinder online.

I went to yarn shop while in Neenah and bought a pattern. The pattern is Lorna's Laces Light as Air vest.

It is made from Lorna's Laces Heaven which is $66 a hank!!! Yikes...1 hank to make a vest. I did find the same yarn online for $49.50 but that is still too much for me.... I will find some clearance yarn somewhere for it.

I wanted a book but she was sold out so found it online. Jean Frost's Jackets.

Very fun day for me!

getting a new bird

I am so excited. I am adopting a parakeet from a bird rescue and I will pick him up tomorrow! Some of you may remember that I had a cockateil. I had to give her back because she just screeched all the time and it was killing our hearing and our enjoyment of her. This new parakeet is young and tame. I have had parakeets in the past and have taught them to talk and sit on my shoulder.

I finished knitting my "booga" bag last night and have to felt it now.

Start of felting...
I didn't want the lunch bag look so I went to thrift shop and picked up a funky old purse that had the coolest handles.

I took the handles off and will use on the bag. Our local yarn shop is running a contest on the most original felted bag so hoping I stand a chance! I will get pictures up soon.

I started knitting a "chemo" hat out of very soft fizzy yarn. Now need to find out if our local hospital knows where I can donate some if I knit more.

Xanga?

I stumbled upon Xanga and decided to get another free blog.
My xanga blog

I am not quite sure if I like it or not.... there are too many teens joining rings that they have nothing to do but post their dating profiles on. LOL
You can quickly join rings that you have commonality with.

Knitting...

Started knitting a Booga Bag last night. Got the bottom all done and now need to pick up stitches to start knitting in the round. Using Noro Kureyon.

New Stash

Look what I got yesterday!

My order from Little Knits
Bulky Fixation and a free pattern book plus some yarn samples. Very fast shipping! The Fixation Bulky was 50% off!!!!

I also took a picture of my Pi Shawl progress.

You can't tell size because it is on circulars. I am at 288 stitches and row 7 of that section. I decided to try the diamond pattern and I think I made a booboo...but only have to "tink" a few stitches.

My DH bought me the new Spring Cast Off magazine yesterday! There is a couple of nice Tee patterns in bigger sizes! More stash needed now!!!

Pi Shawl

After owning EZ's almanac, with the Pi Shawl in it, since the 80's....I found a yahoo group that is doing a knit-along.

Yahoo! I got out some great mohair/wool dk weight yarn and jumped in. Oh it will be so soft. Hope to get some pix taken soon with my progress.

We are having a heat wave here. Going to be 48 deg.F today....record breaker! All our snow will be diminished and winter carnivals are being cancelled due to lack of snow. :-(

I went to knitting meeting last night. We keep growing. Lots of new knitters. Makes me happy as the more people who knit, the greater variety of yarn is available!

I got a wonderful brithday gift yesterday in the mail from Lu (FibeRAOK group). 1# of gourmet black licorice made in Australia! YUMMY.

I have a new pair of socks on needles but keep making mistakes and frogging them. Argh... I'll keep looking for a pattern that is easier to keep track of.
