Perfectionism or Menopause???

Knitting has turned me into somewhat of a perfectionist. I never used to be this way. If it worked it was good enough was my way of thinking. Now it seems I can't finish a project if it is not turning out to my expectations. I am unraveling an aweful lot. Is it menopause? Or am I getting better? Either way it is frustrating me. ha.....but it is somewhat satisfying to unravel yarn and see how knits work. I do enjoy the act of knitting so it just gives me more to knit.
I am learning modular knitting and I love that it keeps me interested. I just bought No Pattern Knits, which covers more shapes than just squares. I started out a few years back with Domino Knits, then bought Modular Magic. Yesterday I ordered Iris's Modular Knits. I think I will have enough knowledge of modules now. ;-)
I joined some new yahoo groups pertaining to modular knitting. I enjoy looking at others beautiful creations and variations.

I am teaching my friend and her daughter knitting. They wanted to make felted purses. Mom is doing great but daughter wants it done now. She lost interest quickly so I took it home with me and knit it up. It was not a beginners pattern. I will take some pictures. She will do the felting.

Tonight I am going to my good friends house and we are going to knit together. looking forward to this as I haven't found a knitting group here yet.

Day of Pampering

My daughter gave me a morning at the local beauty school getting a manicure, scalp massage, oil treatment, facial and facial massage and a hairdo for my birthday! She went along as her birthday present with her birthday money! Grandpa babysat for 3 1/2 hours!
The massage and facial were absolutley WONDERFUL! I had a young man who is a piano player so he had these wonderfully strong gentle fingers! I fell into a very sleepy relaxed mode. Wasn't that wonderful of my daughter?

Our birthdays are 1 week apart so we celebrate together. My dad's birthday is then 5 days later. he will be 80 on Thursday!

I am knitting a raspbaerry red irish hiking scarf with the Irish hiking Scarf Knitalong. I hope to get it done in time to send along the red scarf project. The cables are beautiful and fun to knit.

Happy Birthday to me

I had a great birthday yesterday. Slept late, did no housework, watched my grand nephew...then my hubby took me out to eat at our favorite Italian restaurant. lasagna there is fantastic! They give you such a big portion that we have a meal for today. I also got a piece of Strawberry cheescake from them for my birthday!
Then we went shopping and I got a pretty floral runner for my bedroom.

Now today I feel older! hahahaha

Plunged in the FROG pond

I took a deep breath and plunged into the frog pond! The sweater was eating too much yarn and becoming too heavy to support the shape so this is how it looks today....

Modular Sweater

My camera does not do justice on the colors of the squares. I will try and take a picture of a close up of squares. :-)

I am making progress on my modular knit sweater. Knitting one block at a time and no seams is going very quickly! The blocks are set on point and the strips knit diagonally.
This is the book I am using.

There are a lot of ideas in the book and you learn to design your own.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

I can not believe it is 2007. Where did the past year go? Resolutions? Lose weight, as usual (never maintained). Get organized, get up earlier again....
I could just keep the same list year after year. or why bother.... hahahahahaha
I do plan on knitting a sweater for myself this year!

We spent a quiet night at home watching and taping "One Night with the King" , the story of Esther. It was very good. It is one of my favorite stories from the Bible.

May the Lord bless your year with health, prosperity, and happiness!
