Drama Llamas

Our new knitting group has decided to call ourselves the Drama Llamas....coming from a derogatory remark made about us. It is too funny not to put to good use. We are thinking of getting some t-shirts made. hahahahahaha
The place we found to meet is just wonderful. Comfortable, well lit, cozy and the tea is the best ever! Our group is growing and we are knitting much.

Tomorrow I am am going to WI Sheep and Wool  and I am so excited!  My first time.  I have been saving up to buy some more roving to spin. I will be wearing my Ravelry button!

I like the weather now, cooler, which means lap knitting projects can be continued!

Road Trip

Debra (MaidMarian) and I did a road trip on Thursday. First we stopped at Nancy's Notions in Beaver Dam where Debra needed to pick up some more fabric for a quilt she is making. ( the lady measured wrong on the first cut!) Then we headed down to Columbus WI to Susan's Fiber Shop. I scored some nice superwash roving for spinning washable yarn. She has a lot of supplies for knitters, spinners, weavers, beaders, etc. a wall full of books for all kinds of crafting, too. It is out in the middle of nowhere but worth the trip.... even if it is just to watch and listen to Susan tell stories! We usually end up traveling in snowstorms, rain storms or tornadoes, but we had a beautiful day!

I finished my red Socks of Kindness. They need to be washed and blocked as I am giving them to a friend. ChiroPatti has one of my sock blockers and I hope she remembers to bring it Monday night to YKNOTKNIT meeting.

Loom

My loom is home after being away for 20 years! I sold it 20 years ago when we thought we were going into the mission field. My friend bought it and never used it all those years and she offered it back to me a God inspired price I couldn't refuse. I will post pictures soon.... as it needs a little work.

I also have joined some new business ventures and have been trying to get those up and running.. more to come on that...

I just had to touch base here...

I met Lucy Neatby

Weeee! I went to normal Thursday noon knitting and walked in and saw this lady with rainbow hair and thought to myself... I know her, I think. Here it was Lucy Neatby!!!!

I introduced myself and shook her hand. She was very kind and not at all stand-offish. She asked me if I had a copy of her dvd index and told her no. She then lfet for lunch. She is in Neenah WI for Midwest Masters, that starts tomorrow. After lunch she came back and handed me an index to her DVD's. I asked her if she would autograph it. And of course, she did.... "To Debbie, May your stitches always smile! Lucy" and drew her cute little smiling stitch. THEN>>> she sat down and knit with me!!!!! We talked about Ravelry and her dvd's and new ones coming out. She is so friendly and I love her accent.
So that was the thrill of the year!!!!

Oh and I bought some Dream in Color Smooshy for 30% off! Score!!!!!

Blogging for money?

Get paid to blog! I am always looking for ways to be able to buy yarn and I have discovered that companies are willing to pay to advertise on your blog about what they offer.
Smorty blog advertising is a service connecting advertisers with bloggers. Advertisers will pay bloggers to write opinion posts with links back to their site. http://www.smorty.com
Can you imagine getting paid to blog? I can and have been paid.

Oh, I will still be blogging about my knitting and my grand children and other stuff, so keep coming back.

Yesterday's road trip with Debra was so much fun. We did a full 12 hours together! Our first stop was lunch and then we went to Herrschner's. From there we went to The Black Purl in Wausau. We had our knitting along so we sat and knit with Beth, the owner and a couple of other knitter's. And we scored on some hard to find books and magazines. She is have a sale next weekend so be sure and head to Wausau! Then we headed to Waupaca and ate supper in King at the King's Table. And then we headed to The Troll's Cove for open knitting and scored some more yarn. There were 8 of us knitting and having fun. It was a fun filled fibery day. Thanks Debra!

Feeling Good!

Ahh.... today I feel very good. It has been a few weeks of battling bronchitis and the flu. I only had a light case of the flu because I take my GBG 10-in-1 Liquid Vitamins daily. My hair and nails are growing gangbusters! AND I noticed I am not having any more hot flashes! That is worth every penny that GBG 10-n-1 costs! Yippee.

I finished my jaywalker socks, finally. That second sock syndrome really kicked in on that pair. I am about halfway done with my vest, now that warmer weather is getting nearer. :-)
Tomorrow I am going on a road trip to yarn shops with my dear friend, Debra. We will travel and giggle and fondle yarn! Sounds like fun, huh? :-)

Bloggerwave. Make some extra money doing what you normally do on your blog! Blog! Write a few sentences about things that companies would like you to write about. It is open to all countries, but only theses languages: Spanish, German, English, Italian, Swedish, Norwegian, French. You do need to put some code on your blog and it will help you get jobs. I am looking forward to earning money to buy more yarn!

Signs of Spring?

Well we had a record snowfall this winter and there is still plenty of piles of the stuff around. No signs of spring flowers but many spring birds. I heard my first robin this morning, saw some sandhill cranes on Sunday and saw some geese flying north. The birds are chirping more and it is music to my ears.

I can not wait to get rid of winter coat!

In Memory of Faye

Today a wonderful woman of God went to the arms of her Heavenly Father. My mother-in-law, Faye, passed away peacefully. She will be missed but we all know that she is happy and pain free now. Jesus was her Lord and Savior and He welcomed her home. Dad will miss his bride of 65 years, but now he won't have to hear her cry in pain. Oh how he loved her. She would have turned 89 next month.
Faye's pecan pie was the best I ever ate. She loved playing Dominos and telling a good clean limerick. She was like a mom to me and loved me.
I'll miss you momma Faye.

Blogiversary and stuff

There is a contest over here. Leave a comment and mention my blog to enter.

It is finally warming up here in WI. That subzero stuff really starts to wear on a person and cars.

I am still plodding along on Monkey socks.... I don't have that much left... need to just sit and knit and not spend so much time on Ravelry. :-)

Monkey socks

I bought a new camera today, hence the picture of the socks. I had some inheritance money left over and the camera was on sale. My old one lasted 8 years so I guess I got good life out of it. This new camera has twice as many mega pixels as the old one and half the weight! Oh and twice as big viewer.

I got my coupon to spend at a local yarn shop today and just couldn't decide what to buy as it is good on only 1 purchase. That kinda sucks as it is worth $60. I need to buy a bunch of yarn or some pricey extra tool. I will spend some time in prayer about it as I want to get the best for me. I guess I could get enough yarn to make a luxury sweater...or enough fiber to spin enough yarn for a luxury sweater. Or a mess of sock yarns...nah sock yarn doesn't go far enough.

Socks for Ella

She was in this stage of not wearing socks,(it's winter here) so I knit these so they were special and she started wearing her socks again. :-)
I used just a basic sock pattern, fast and simple.

I am going to wallyworld to get a new internal battery for my camera to see if that fixes it before I spend money on a new camera. let's pray that a $3.29 battery will fix it! Then I can get some of my latest projects posted. (thank goodness I had my daughter take some pictures while I was there with her camera. :-)

I scored a book!

I have been desiring the book "Knitting Marvelous Mittens" only to find out that it is out of print(oop) and people are trying to sell their copies for like $130+. Original cost of paperback is like $14.95! Well, I called every yarn store in my area, searched online. No luck. Yesterday I was at my LYS Iris Fine Yarns and looked thru the books. TADA A hardback First Edition of "Mostly Mittens"!!!!! That is the original name of the book. Nowonder they said they didn't have Knitting marvelous mittens when i called.

I am also going to be doing some more sample knitting for some stores, designers, companies. :-)

My camera died

Boo hoo hoo. My digital camera froze and won't work. I have had the camera since 1999 so I guess I got my moneys worth. I have so many objects I want to taker pictures of and can't until subzero blizzard stops and I can get out shopping. I can get so much more camera now for a lot less money than when I bought my canon.

I have 1 Monkey Sock done and about 5 repeats of sock 2 done. I am in a January Sockdown contest over on Ravelry. I need to post a picture of completed pair in order to be eligible for contest.

Here is a picture of my new knitting buddy. We both are named Debra...and both love knitting and laughing. This picture was taken at our Knitting Christmas party. Ann over at Yellow House Treasures took the picture. She loves taking pictures and she loves posting them. Thanks Ann.

UFO's

I finished Ella's socks, doll blanket, almost done with son's sweater, and started Monkey Socks. I have 5 repeats done of the Monkey Socks. It is a very nice pattern and free at Knitty.com.
I have some Bluemoon Fiber Arts mediumweight sock yarn that I am looking for that just right pattern to use it. The colorway is Lunasea. I do a lot more posting of pictures over at Ravelry. Look me up and add me as a friend. I am KnittinDeb.

I am still up north until this Sunday. Saturday is my birthday and my granddaughter is all excited that I will be at her house for it. We will probably go out to eat.

The sun actually came out today! It's been a week since we have seen it, I think. Sure makes a person feel like doing something. Me and My daughter did some deep cleaning this morning. I bagged up all the toys that just get spread all over and this will help with toy pickups. My goodness they have a mass amount of small toys...

Ella got her yarn!

The yarn store was open and Ella was all excited. It was very hard for her to make a decision on the color. She would see one and say "that one", then spot another and say "no, that one". It was cute to see such yarn excitmeent! We finally found a skein of Red Heart Multi color that she really liked, containing, shades of pinks and blues and purples. I looked thru a couple of my knitting books I brought along and decided to just do an oversized Grandmother's Favorite dishcloth pattern on size 13's. It is going quick and she really "loves" her baby blanket. She received a Baby Alive doll for Christmas and she needs a blanket. I really enjoy knitting for her. Isabelle just loves rubbing the yarn on her face(have to make sure she is washed up!)

Knitting Ella some socks

I am knitting Ella some socks per her request. I am using Plymouth Dreeam Baby D.K yarn color 205. It is white yarn with splashes of pink, yellow, blue and green. 1 is done and she wants to wear it. I am now past the gussett and doing the plain knitting. They are very soft as the yarn is a microfiber acrylic. She now notices knitting on programs on TV. Too cute. Today we are going to local yarn shop to pick out yarn for a doll blanket. I have been there twice and it is always closed. I hope it was just holiday closing. Ella has bugged me all week to go to the "yarn Barn" (name of the store). I told her today would be warmer for a walk and she has been after me since 7:30 a.m to go. It is almost time to go now and she is excited!
I'll let you know how we did..... (Ella will be 4 next month)
